FAQ

Where do the exchange rates come from?

Rates come from the Frankfurter API, which publishes European Central Bank reference rates and updates once per business day — official reference rates, not real-time interbank or retail rates.

Why does it say rates are cached / stale?

Rates for the day are cached to avoid refetching on every keystroke and to allow offline use. If a fresh lookup fails, the tool falls back to the most recent cached rates and flags them as stale.

Can I use this for actual currency trades?

No — these are daily reference rates meant for estimation, not the live rates a bank or exchange would give you for an actual transaction, which include spreads and fees.
